More details about the house

Design & Architecture

The house was lovingly designed by Paul Carrolls father, Westgarth Carroll in 2011.  He worked alongside Paul & Tara to come up with a design that maximises the breathtaking views while ensuring a comfortable stay with social areas for large groups and family get-togethers.  Special attentions to detail include access to the outdoors environment from every room, a kitchen perfect for cooking large meals while still enjoying the view and allowing for social interactions with the incorporation of a breakfast bar area. A classic Garth touch is the balcony bannister which is designed to be wide enough to accommodate a wine glass perfectly!

Eco & Passive House Comfort

Greenshutters was designed to passive house principles, using south-facing, floor-to-ceiling glazing to harness natural solar gain. The airtight build is paired with a mechanical heat recovery ventilation system, delivering a constant supply of fresh, filtered air while retaining warmth during the winter months, creating a space that feels comfortable, calm and energy-efficient all year round.

Living & Dining Spaces

An open-plan living, dining and kitchen area opens directly onto a wide balcony with far-reaching sea views. It’s a generous, light-filled space designed for relaxed meals, long conversations and memorable time together.

Bedrooms & Sleeps

Greenshutters offers a range of flexible sleeping arrangements, making it easy to accommodate different group sizes and generations comfortably.

Garden & Outdoor Living

Set within a private, detached plot, the house is surrounded by a large garden. In summer, children can enjoy the hammock and swing beneath the balcony, while adults relax on the lawn or retreat to a shaded, undercover area for quieter moments.
